Kesha Stuns On The Cover Of ‘Teen Vogue’, Opens Up About Her Eating Disorder And Rehab Stint

Kesha lands on the August cover of Teen Vogue looking almost unrecognizable with her largely make-up free face and pretty denim shirt. It really drives home the fact that the girl formerly known as K$ has really cleaned up her act — a process she details at length in the revealing interview, which covers her recent stint in rehab for an eating disorder.

“My eating disorder is something I’ve been struggling with for a while,” the “Timber” hitmaker admits. “I went to rehab for an eating disorder — nothing more and nothing less.” The impetus for her to check into Timberline Knolls (a Chicago-area facility) is also pretty telling. “Making my last record, Warrior, was a pretty miserable process, and it wore my spirit down,” she says. “I was fighting like hell to keep my whole irreverent essence and everything raw and visceral that I stand for in it, but in the end I was promoting something that wasn’t the animal I wanted it to be.”

On the bright side, Kesha reveals that she recorded 14 new songs during her rehabilitation and is looking forward to releasing an album more in tune with her personal aesthetic. I really loved Warrior but I’m happy the former-glitter princess is in a position to make the music she likes. Read more after the jump.
