Skylar Grey has dedicated an enduring hit to NBA player LeBron James, for his just-announced return to his hometown team Cleveland Cavaliers.

Soon the news broke, Grey posted a video of her singing the hook of a song she co-wrote, Diddy-Dirty Money‘s 2010 song “Coming Home.” Naturally, she revised the song for the occasion, trading the lyric “I know my kingdom awaits / and they’ve forgiven my mistakes” for “I know that Cleveland awaits, and they’ve forgiven my mistakes.” To drive the point home, she then says, “Welcome home, LeBron.”

Sports Illustrated broke the news on July 11, of James deciding to leave the Miami Heat and rejoin the Cavaliers, for whom he played in the first seven seasons of his career. James won two NBA titles with the Heat, though not without angering his hometown. Fans burned his jerseys. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert called James’ move a “shocking act of disloyalty.”

Depending on the source, Cavaliers fans have either forgiven James or on edge in light of his decision. Those who forgave him likely took the overall sentiment of Sports Illustrated‘s story to heart. To break the news, the magazine didn’t post a news item, but an essay written by James himself, its title and conclusion echoing Grey’s song: “I’m ready to accept the challenge. I’m coming home.”

Watch Skylar Grey dedicate her song to LeBron James up top, then read James’ essay at Sports Illustrated.
