Meghan Trainor is having a very good week. The 20-year-old’s infectious single “All About That Bass” claimed the spot top on iTunes today (August 6) and shot into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 — landing at number eight. It’s an impressive achievement for the newcomer, particularly given the slew of high-profile new releases in the past week.

Those include “Bang Bang”, Jessie J‘s much-hyped collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, which debuts at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The only song to make a bigger first week splash in 2014 is Ari’s own summer smash “Problem”. (It arrived at number three). MAGIC!‘s “Rude” remains at number one for a fourth consecutive week, while Sam Smith climbs a spot to number two with “Stay With Me”. See the full top 10 after the jump.
