Stuck On Repeat: Ingrid Michaelson’s Awesome “Girls Chase Boys”

Ingrid Michaelson slyly released one of the year’s best pop songs way back in February and it’s taken half a year for most of us to realize it. The 34-year-old singer/songwriter is currently enjoying the second biggest hit of her long career with “Girls Chase Boys”, which is hovering just outside the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100. (Only 2007 smash “The Way I Am” has charted higher).

What makes the lead single from Lights Out so good? Well, it’s possibly the most nonchalant break-up anthem of all time (“all the broken hearts in the world still beat, let’s not make it harder than it has to be”). It’s the musical equivalent of breaking up with someone by texting “lol bye”, which gives it universal appeal. Oh and the gender-bending video — a cute homage to Robert Palmer‘s iconic “Simply Irresistible” visual — doesn’t hurt. Watch up top.
