Nicole Scherzinger Premieres New Single, “On The Rocks”: Listen

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, lead Pussycat Doll-turned-solo chanteuse Nicole Scherzinger described the “Nicole sound” as “midtempo, supercool, super-vibey, some of it’s a little throwback to Janet Jackson Velvet Rope and some of it has early essences of Sadé, but it’s current.” Erm, well…

“On The Rocks” is Scherzy’s follow-up to her immediately catchy “Your Love,” and — let’s just say, “current” isn’t exactly the term I’d use to describe this curiously Auto-Tuned-to-oblivion R&B ballad (especially that T-Pain-like bridge), which sounds something like a B-side to Kelly Rowland‘s “Rose Colored Glasses.”

“Let’s take a shot, since you been takin’ shots/And allow me to serve you this drink on the rocks,” she croons across the chorus. Listen to “On The Rocks” after the jump.

Is this going to be a hit for Nicole, or a major misstep following “Your Love”? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
