Brandon Flowers Working With Sky Ferreira Producer Ariel Rechtshaid On Sophomore Solo Album

Brandon Flowers certainly doesn’t slack in the music-making department. This past June marked the 10-year anniversary of his band The Killers‘ debut LP Hot Fuss, and as a follow up to the quartet’s 2013 compilation Direct Hits — as well as his own 2010 solo album Flamingo — the Las Vegas pop-rock crooner has been busying himself by recording another solo LP, this time with Grammy-nominated producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Sky Ferreira, Kylie Minogue).

“He’s taking me out of my comfort zone,” Flowers told NME about working with Rechtshaid, while noting his new album will be out in 2015. “Normally I make demos and they’re pretty similar to how the song ends up. but he’ll take a song and be like, ‘I hear this’. It’s incredible – his palette and his range, what he’s able to say. At first we were butting our heads together, but now we’re hitting it off.”

The singer also hinted at the sound of the album — at the moment, at least — by stating this: “The record’s not done yet, but I’m excited about it… I’m liking it. People are going to interpret it how they will, but there’s only a little bit of Vegas in there.”

So while we wait for more info on that front, here’s The Killers covering Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX‘s “Fancy” in England earlier this month, complete with drummer Ronnie Vannucci getting out from behind his kit and shaking his butt:

Also, fear not, Killers fans; it seems there will be more ironic live covers to come. Brandon had the following to say to NME about the band’s future: “I wanna keep being in this band. I don’t think we’ll get too morbid about it, I think we wanna keep going.”
