Leona Lewis Writes Long, Emotional Letter To Fans Explaining Her Departure From Sony

Leona Lewis took the rather unusual step of penning a long and emotional open letter to fans explaining her departure from Simon Cowell‘s Syco label at Sony. “It has been quite the roller coaster year,” begins the British diva before writing frankly about her fears and anxieties. “I worry about the future, work, how I look, the images of horror on the news.”

The “Bleeding Love” diva then comments on her label situation, writing: “I thought about leaving over and over again. I was terrified of walking away from a somewhat secure relationship, even though I knew that we were no longer right for each other.” Leona then suggests she was being pushed in the wrong direction musically. “For my fifth album I was asked to make a record that would not be true to myself,” she states as her decision to leave.

“I’m not sure where I’ll end up but one thing I am certain of is that I’ve stayed true to myself and I’ve followed what my heart says is right,” the 29-year-old concludes. I applaud Leona’s candor but I’m slightly confused about her uncertainty. Didn’t she just sign a high-profile deal with Island Records in June? Read her full open letter after the jump.
