Jamie Foxx has released platinum singles as a singer when he isn’t working as an actor and comedian. (His last hit? “Blame It,” his 2009 collaboration with T-Pain.) Now, he returns to music while proving that yes, he has kept up with music’s latest trends. Foxx’s new single “Party Ain’t A Party,” released September 13, features rap clown prince 2 Chainz over an steamy instrumental by rap-turned-pop crossover producer DJ Mustard.

Foxx boasts a thick Auto-Tuned croon, as he imagines himself running a private show in a club’s VIP section (“Go ahead girl, twerk it out on me”). Meanwhile, 2 Chainz makes plans for the after-after party: “I fuck over your girl’s hairdo / If if it’s curly, I straighten it / If it’s straight, I leave it curly.” The whole affair belongs in the same playlist as another recent comeback single: T-Pain’s “Up Down (Do This All Day)” featuring B.o.B., a low-key party anthem that has climbed the charts over the past six months.
