Brooke Fraser Dabbles In Synth-Pop On Extremely Good New Single “Kings + Queens”: Listen

Brooke Fraser is switching things up on her fourth LP. The New Zealand diva built a loyal international following (she’s a veritable superstar at home) with the largely acoustic singer/songwriter fare of Albertine and Flags but she’s heading in an exciting new direction if demented buzz track “Psychosocial” and upbeat lead single “Kings + Queens” are any indication.

The 30-year-old, who landed a global hit in 2010 with toe-tapper “Something In The Water”, dabbles in electronica on her latest anthem without sacrificing the razor-sharp lyrics and knack for a simple but immediately engaging melody that fans have grown accustomed to. “We’ve come a long way (you know) living inside a dream, waking to find that we are kings and queens,” Brooke sings over slinky synths and crazy keys on the killer chorus. It’s a surprisingly great fit. Listen after the jump.
