Originally, One Direction planned to release new single “Steal My Girl” on September 29. As of late last night, however, fans have been wondering if the boy band had different plans in mind. After midnight, Liam Payne let Directioners know on Twitter that he was bored, he was really bored, he had headed to bed and wanted to fall asleep but couldn’t because his TV was broken and his room was too hot. Then a low-quality version of “Steal My Girl” surfaced online. #LiamWeKnowItWasYou is now a trending topic on Twitter.

Regardless of how “Steal My Girl” (off 1D’s upcoming album Four) arrived, the song is clearly a hit. “I got it all because she is the one / Her mom calls me love, her dad calls me son, alright,” the lads sing near the beginning, as if each member is trying to catch his breath. Without wasting much time, though, “Steal My Girl” morphs into a soaring stadium pop anthem with hard-hitting drum machine beats, glassy piano chords and that playground chant of a hook (“Everybody wanna steal my giiiirl / Everybody wanna take her heart away!”).
