Avicii Features Robbie Williams On “The Days”: Listen

Avicii‘s new single “The Days” begins with an acoustic guitar melody. By now, fans of the DJ/producer have come to expect such genre-bending moves from him. With his debut LP True and mega-hit singles like “Wake Me Up,” he teamed up with artists like Aloe Blacc and Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger to create mainstream EDM with a folkish bent (or “country house,” as it was deemed on Twitter).

But once Brit-pop veteran (and former Take That member) Robbie Wiliams enters the song, singing of these promises to never get old, that acoustic melody fades in the background. Slowly, “The Days” transforms into this slick, Technicolor synth-pop anthem that’s also unabashedly cheerful and sweet – think Passion Pit‘s Manners.

The Days” is the lead single to Avicii’s sophomore album Stories. Before its arrival, the Swedish artist said that he had worked with artists like Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean and Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong to add rock and reggae elements to his new music.

Based on how “The Days” sounds, though, Avicii may be going poppier as well – hear the new song at Ultimate Music.
