Erasure’s “Elevation” Gets Remixed By Jack Antonoff: Listen

Erasure had announced its new, Richard X-produced album The Violet Flame with “Elevation,” an effervescent anthem about love conquering all. That song proved that, even 16 albums and 30 years after their landmark debut, the enduring synthpop duo can sound both current and timeless while balancing EDM experimentation with sharp pop writing.

And as a new “Elevation” remix by Jack Antonoff (of fun. and Bleachers) now shows, Erasure has also likely inspired a current generation of artists to follow the same path. Antonoff starts by grounding the song with somber strings and looping Andy Bell‘s determined vocals, but then he ups the ante with metric-ton slams and neon-tinged synths. His remix sounds tailor-made for Hollywood’s next sci-fi thriller.
