Fergie Is Working With Will.i.am And Rae Sremmurd On Her New (Obviously Hip-Hop) Album

Fergie made her long-awaited return to the music game last week with DJ Mustard-produced bop “L.A. Love (La La)” and is currently putting the finishing touches on her sophomore album. She shed more light on the project in a radio interview on Power 106 this morning (October 2), explaining her new era as follows: “My style is just gonna evolve with the music that I’m listening to, what I’m inspired by, mixed with all the old stuff that I’m inspired by.”

The Black Eyed Peas diva revealed that she has worked with long-time collaborator Will.i.am on the LP along with “No Flex Zone” duo Rae Sremmurd and Mike WiLL Made It. Given that line-up, it’s pretty clear she’s clearly going in a hip-hop direction. Which is great news for fans of The Dutchess. And as for “L.A. Love (La LA)”? Well, the love-it-or-hate-it banger (I’m obsessed) is an ode to her hometown’s music scene.

“I am a student,” Fergie said of her new single. “I study the evolution of music, from Kendrick [Lamar] to [DJ] Mustard.” So far, so good. “L.A. had an explosion. I needed to be a part of it.” There’s still no release date set for her much-anticipated opus but early 2015 is considered the most likely slot.
