When Ryn Weaver made her debut early this past summer with “OctaHate,” the song garnered a fair share of headlines — and rightly so. After all, the bombastic pop oddity was co-written by “Boom Clap” sensation Charli XCX and co-produced by Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Passion Pit‘s Michael Angelakos, which isn’t a bad way to go hard right out of the gate.

So here we are three-and-a-half months later with Ryn’s video for “OctaHate,” and suddenly all the pieces seem to have fallen together for the California newcomer. The visual is nothing if not a showcase for Weaver’s charisma, attitude and sheer flair for drama — not to mention her slight touch of wonderful lunacy — and now it’s evident why people have been making such a big deal about this girl.

Watch Ryn and her inner child go head-to-head with faceless forces from the outside world above.
