Niykee Heaton is perhaps best-known for her eye-popping Instagram account, which showcases her criminal curves on the daily but there’s more to the 19-year-old than cleavage and buns. For starters, she just released one of the year’s best EPs via Steve Rifkind and Russell Simmons‘ new All Def Digital label. Bad Intentions delivers a couple of club bangers but it’s largely introspective and understated.

Take “Sober”. The South African-born/Chicago-based babe revealed that the song is about her late father’s battle with alcoholism. It’s a credit to her formidable songwriting ability that the dark and brooding anthem is simultaneously personal yet open to a multitude of interpretations. We’re excited to premiere the lyric video, which puts the emphasis on Niykee’s music rather than her good looks. Watch up top.
