Childish Gambino reunites with Jhene Aiko, past collaborator and on-screen beau, in his bizarre new video for “Telegraph Ave (‘Oakland’ by Lloyd).”

Directed by Hiro Murai, the clip begins with the two of them driving a scenic route through the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i, as the Stone Mountain, Ga., comedian-rapper sings along to a song by, yes, R&B singer Lloyd. (Fun fact: The song “Oakland” was actually recorded specifically for Childish Gambino’s 2013 sophomore LP and elaborate concept album, Because the Internet.) Then, the couple lounges around and explores the nearly secluded island.

It’s all an ideal romantic getaway — that is, until Childish Gambino gets hit by a car.

The last time Childish Gambino and Aiko teamed up to shoot a video, they appeared to be just as close. They spent a day in bed together for “Bed Peace,” the lead single off Aiko’s Sail Out EP, paying homage toJohn Lennon and Yoko Ono‘s infamous bed-in protests against the Vietnam War. Neither of them were harmed during the video’s making.
