One Direction’s Next ‘Four’ Single “Night Changes” Surfaces Online: Listen

One Direction‘s next single has surfaced online before its official debut. Like “Steal My Girl,” follow-up “Night Changes” shows signs that the British boy band is growing up, despite what its infamously mock-serious music videos may say. All five members sing in this ballad of getting older, baby, and with a twinge of sadness in their voices.

Here’s Zayn Malik‘s opening lyric: “Going out tonight, changes into something red / Her mother doesn’t like that kind of dress / Everything she never had, she’s showing off.”

“Night Changes” features writing credits by Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. One Direction’s new album Four surfaced online last night (November 8) ahead of its November 17 release date. As if to tide fans over, One Direction has also previewed “Night Changes” in a new album trailer — watch that, then hear the new song in its entirety below.
