Lorde Covers Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em” On BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge: Watch

BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge is a wonderful place where the world’s top pop stars often produce the most unexpected and exciting covers — from Adele‘s take on Cheryl Cole‘s “Promise This” to Taylor Swift‘s cover of Vance Joy‘s “Riptide.”

Earlier today, the “Yellow Flicker Beat” singer-songstress appeared on the radio show to sing her Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 theme song — as well as a cover of Jeremih‘s Top 10 hit, “Don’t Tell ‘Em.” And you know what? She nailed it. Majorly.

In perfect Lorde fashion, the track was entirely modified and manipulated into something much more haunting, sparse and chilly (think Pure Heroine style), as the young songstress happily bopped around at the microphone and sang-rapped the tune. She’s seriously getting into it! “It’s quite a saucy song and I think it would be interesting to flip the dynamic and make that power mine,” she explained of the cover.
