J. Cole’s ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’: See The Tracklist

J. Cole announced the release of his forthcoming third LP, 2014 Forest Hills Drivetwo weeks ago. Since then, only die-hard fans have known what to expect. Somewhat in the style of Taylor Swift, instead of dropping singles in advance, the North Carolina-bred rapper chose to invite a select few to hear his new music at his childhood home — which is the album title’s reference.

Following this summer’s second annual Dollar and a Dream tour and his unannounced visit to Ferguson, Mo. after the death of Michael Brown, this sort of gesture was the latest example of J. Cole making himself accessible to fans.

Now, a week ahead of its December 9 release, Cole has revealed 2014 Forest Hill Drive‘s tracklist to the rest of the world. Based on the song titles, he intends to revisit a time before he convinced Jay Z to sign him to Roc Nation. “January 28” references his birthday, while “03′ Adolescence” seems like a spin off his label boss and Beyonce‘s “’03 Bonnie and Clyde.” See the tracklist below.
