It’s been a year since Beyoncé pulled a Beyoncé and dropped her surprise visual album, BEYONCÉ.

A year later, and we’re still scratching our heads trying to figure out how she pulled it off. Luckily, we’ve just been given a slight glimpse into the process today with a brand new behind-the-scenes video focused on Jonas Akerlund, the director of “Haunted” and “Superpower.”

The BTS clip begins with Jonas getting a call about Bey’s plan for a visual album. “To be honest, this is the first I hear of this!” he exclaims. And then, we’re treated to Akerlund’s interpretations of the two clips. “These two videos are a little unique because they have less choreography than she usually does, it’s a little less performance, it’s a slightly different tone than what she usually does,” he says of their collaboration. The clip takes us inside the spooky, gorgeous mansion where Bey shot her “Haunted” video, as well as the post-apocalyptic street war of “Superpower.” It’s an intriguing look into the making of a truly ambitious project.
