“She is the most consummate performer I’ve ever met, and I’ve met a lot of performers in my lifetime,” Tony Bennett gushed about Lady Gaga during the pair’s sitdown on The Colbert Report last night. Bennett and Gaga explained to host Stephen Colbert how they came together to record their chart-topping album Cheek To Cheek, as well as their process for choosing which songs to cover from the Great American Songbook.

After their interview, the jazz-loving twosome performed their rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “Cheek To Cheek” — or rather, their musical number was taped before the chat, but aired after it…a production secret comically Gaga blew when she blurted out “Didn’t we just sing?” while Colbert was attempting to set up the performance for viewers. Oops!
