When Charli XCX was working on her sophomore album Sucker, she was pissed at the music industry for wanting her to write another version of Icona Pop‘s “I Love It.” The British pop singer decamped in Sweden and wrote an album’s worth of loud, angry punk songs, two of which (“Breaking Up,” “Gold Coins”) now appear on Sucker.

Other, just-revealed tracks seem like they were written once Charli XCX calmed down. “Caught in the Middle” has her sounding wistful as the other woman in an affair, wishing it would last. “Die Tonight” is a live-for-today anthem like “I Love It,” though instead of crashing cars, Charli XCX sings blissfully of “magic in [her] veins.”

Charli XCX’s Sucker is out December 16. UPDATE: For now, we’ve been asked the “Caught in the Middle” and “Die Tonight” links. We’ll post the official embeds here once they premiere.
