Mystery Skulls, Brandy & Nile Rodgers make magic on the great "Number 1".

Brandy needs a lucky break. After that concert debacle in South Africa (she sold 40 tickets to an event with a 90,000 seat capacity) and the miserable sales tally of underrated LP Two Eleven, things really haven’t been going the R&B diva’s way. That could change with her as-yet-untitled seventh studio album. She has spent most of the year working on new music and teased a couple of snippets on Instagram last night (December 7).

The 35-year-old’s new tune is the handiwork of noted producers Oak (A.K.A. Usher‘s righthand man) and Pop Wansel (he’s crafted hits for Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande). The former couldn’t speak highly enough of the comeback queen, raving: “there are singers, there are great singers, there are phenomenal vocalists, and then there’s Brandy.” He has a point. Brandy’s vocals are smooth as silk in the snippets and the song already sounds like a bop, even in its early stages. Listen after the jump.
