We all knew that Kendrick Lamar was going to be the guest performer on of the final episodes of The Colbert Report last night (December 16), but no one was expecting the prolific rapper to debut a new song! Instead of performing his current single, “i,” K. Dot chose to entertain the audience with a track currently called “Untitled.”

It was an unexpectedly stripped back performance, in a style that was mixed with spoken word, rap and jazz. In the Astronote-produced tune, Lamar touches on religion, his career and social issues.

Prior to the performance, Colbert had a hilarious yet brief interview with the rapper where they discussed him being the leader of West Coast rap, his new single and the pressure of being the final musical guest on the show. There is still no word yet on when Kendrick Lamar’s forthcoming third LP will be released. But for now, we have this new track, a Reebok commercial and his “i” single to enjoy!
