Rejoice, all fans of spectactular pop — Stuart Price is officially producing the upcoming 13th studio album from the Pet Shop Boys! Back in early September, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe announced via their official website that they were “planning to start work on a new album in November.” The iconic UK duo have been quiet on the updates since then, especially regarding who’d be handling production duties…until now.

In a Christmas message posted to the Boys’ fans yesterday (December 23), the following was noted: “In January, Neil and Chris will continue to write songs for their next album which will be produced by Stuart Price.”

Price, who’s worked with pop acts ranging from Madonna to The Killers to Take That, produced the previous Pet Shop Boys LP Electric, which landed on Idolator’s 10 Best Albums Of 2013 list last December. It was also voted one of 2013’s 10 best albums via our annual readers’ poll.

“We like the same things, so it’s a very natural thing for us to work with Stuart,” Chris Lowe told Idolator last year. “It was effortless, really. When we were writing some of these dance songs [for Electric], we clearly imagined Stuart producing them.”

Here’s hoping for a 2015 release for the new material, petheads.
