Gwen Stefani returned to the spotlight in 2014 with two songs off her anticipated comeback album, plus a gig on The Voice. Now, she follows fellow coach Pharrell‘s lead with a song for a children’s film soundtrack (“Happy,” N.E.R.D.‘s “Squeeze Me”).

“Shine,” a U.S. and Canada exclusive for Paddington, has the ska-turned-synthpop goddess singing wistfully, wishing she was more like the beloved storybook bear, no matter how accident-prone he is. She isn’t alone — Pharrell backs her up, echoing her sentiments and peppering the acoustic guitar melody with “Hey!”s as the song slowly unfolds. Compared to “Baby Don’t Lie” and “Spark the Fire,” though, “Shine” is Stefani, stripped down. It’s highly unlikely that this song would get an emoji-tastic video.

Paddington debuts in U.S. and Canadian theaters on January 16, after its U.K. debut in November. Hear “Shine” over at BreatheHeavy, then sound off in the comments below.
