Chet Faker's mesmerizing "Gold" was easily one 2014's best videos. Check out the rollerskating opus.

Chet Faker took another step towards a seemingly-inevitable commercial breakthrough by delivering a brilliant performance of 2014 single “Gold” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday (January 7). The Australian singer/songwriter is already an indie-darling thanks to critically acclaimed debut LP Built On Glass, a string of mesmerizing music videos (“Gold” was arguably the best visual of 2014) and the best beard, possibly of all time.

Nick Murphy (his real name) looked and sounded as smooth as ever on Ellen, enchanting the audience with a note-perfect rendition of his lilting lullaby. Given the unexpected radio success of Hozier‘s “Take Me To Church” and the buzz surrounding other soul/rock artists like James Bay, there’s no reason why Chet can’t make a similar leap to the mainstream. Watch his performance up top and check out the shirtless pic he posted on Instagram to celebrate the TV appearance after the jump.
