Sally Shapiro's 'Somewhere Else': Album Review
Our thoughts on the third LP from Sweden's Sally Shapiro.

Swedish musician Johan Agebjörn will release new album Notes on February 10, but unlike its upbeat predecessor, 2011’s Casablanca Nights, or Agebjörn’s work with Sally Shapiro, this project is “a dreamy, melancholic and mostly instrumental collection of songs,” Johan points out. To put it simply, don’t expect the Italo-disco leanings of past tracks like “Spacer Woman From Mars” or Sally Shapiro’s “I’ll Be By Your Side.”

Ahead of the release of Notes, Stereogum has premiered the mysterious-sounding track “The Boy Who Thought It Was A Good Idea To Cry,” which features a minimal amount of aaaaah-ing by Shapiro. A couple folks here in our office thought it sounds like charming carousel music. My mind went straight to 1970s horror movie. Decide for yourself by listening below.
