G.R.L.'s Simone Battle Remembered
Pop influencers ranging from Pitbull to Nicole Scherzinger took to Twitter to pay tribute to the G.R.L. member.

Four months after the tragic passing of Simone Battle, G.R.L. has returned today with a moving tribute to their founding member.

“Lighthouse” is an anthemic and emotional ode that sees the girls pledging their support when the going gets especially tough. “You feel lost and I’ll reach out to guide you home with my lighthouse,” the group declares in unison.

“Right now we’re focused on the song and the positive message overall, about being together in hard times. We’re taking everything else one day at a time,” Emmalyn explained of their return in a new interview with People, the first time they’ve spoken out since the loss of Simone.

The accompanying video is particularly tough to watch, featuring photos and videos from Simone’s childhood through to the early days of G.R.L., leading all the way up to their most recent performances and interviews. (There’s even a brief snippet of the girls in the Idolator studio at the 3:45 mark.) Watch the video up top.

In addition to the song’s release, G.R.L. are partnering with Give An Hour, an organization meant to provide support and awareness surrounding mental health issues. “Mental health is important for everyone, and people need to be able to talk about it,” explained Natasha.
