Dawn Reunites With Aundrea
Dawn Richard reunites with former Danity Kane bandmate Aundrea Fimbres on "Phoenix." Listen.

Dawn Richard is forever showing up R&B’s leading ladies with her arty visuals, but she raises the bar even further with “Tide: The Paradox Effect.” Directed by the diva in conjunction with digital studio We Were Monkeys, the animated video finds a robo-warrior incarnation of our heroine walking along a mystery planet — complete with explosions/solar flares — until she finally reaches the sun. It’s superbly executed and symbolic.

The clip also has an impeccable soundtrack. “Tide: The Paradox Effect” isn’t included on the standard tracklist of Dawn’s new LP BlackHeart (it’s only available on the limited edition vinyl release) but it’s one of the Danity Kane survivor’s kookiest electronic adventures. Think a futuristic Kate Bush with a penchant for dub-step! The song/video comes a day after the 31-year-old reunited with Aundrea Fimbres on “Phoenix.” The album is available now.
