It’s been over a year since The Sounds released their fifth studio LP, Weekend, but standout track “Hurt The Ones I Love” has been re-energized thanks to a brand new remix by Felix Lineau. Idolator is premiering the new version today.

Like The Sounds, Lineau hails from Sweden, and here he strips out the song’s more ethereal synth-and-guitar-pop instrumentation for a full-throttle dance groove.

“We’ve always been into music that makes you feel alive, that’s how music should make you feel,” Sounds member Félix Rodríguez explains. “No matter what genre, music is an expression of a instant feeling you have and could be translated in many ways. There’s no limit to genre when we write music.”

Rodríguez continues:

“A song written and recorded on a basic piano could end up as a dance track with an explosive production, and that’s the beauty with music. There are no rules, and that’s why I feel that remixes sometimes really make you understand more about the song you actually wrote. This remix of our song ‘Hurt The Ones I Love’ is one of those songs we never thought you would hear on a dance floor. It has real depth and emotion in the lyrics and to the performance Maja brought in the melody. There is a real music movement with Swedish artists, DJs and producers these days, and Felix Lineau really created a great remix of our song, and I have to say I’m really impressed.”
