Lil Wayne‘s long-delayed Tha Carter V will finally be released in early 2015, as his manager Cortez Bryant and Young Money president Mack Maine recently assured the press. Regardless, Lil Wayne has reportedly decided to take action against Cash Money.

According to TMZ, Lil Wayne plans to sue Birdman for $8 million. The “Believe Me” rapper claims that the Cash Money label boss violated his contract by pushing back the release of and failing to pay him an advance for Tha Carter V

Lil Wayne signed to Cash Money when he was a preteen and a member of rap group Hot Boy$. At times, he was Cash Money’s only signee, as others like “Back That Ass Up” rapper Juvenile and famed producer Mannie Fresh left the label due to financial disagreements.

As a crossover star in his own right, though, Lil Wayne founded the Cash Money imprint that now boasts Drake and Nicki Minaj as signees: Young Money. So far, there’s no word on what would happen to Young Money if Lil Wayne were to leave Cash Money.

All fans know for now is that, based on his latest mixtape Sorry for the Wait 2, Lil Wayne is clearly unhappy with his current label situation. “Cash Money is an army? I’m a one-man army,” he raps at the beginning of the mixtape.
