Katy Perry‘s halftime show at Super Bowl XLIX made TV ratings history last night (February 1). A whopping 118.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the Prism diva ride a giant mechanical tiger into the stadium and hover above the crowd on a firework. That’s an impressive three million more people than Bruno Mars attracted last year and a massive seven million more than Beyonce snared the year before. Bow down to the new Queen of sporting events!

In addition to attracting the highest viewership of all time and single-handedly reviving Missy Elliot‘s career, the “This Is How We Do” diva also drew praise from PETA for her use of mechanical/inflatable animals instead of the real thing. “PROOF that you don’t need to use real animals to amaze a crowd,” the organization wrote on their Facebook. “SHARE if you’re glad Katy Perry chose NOT to use live animals! #SuperBowl.”
