Whatcha Say: Katy Perry, Madonna And Kim Kardashian Got Our Readers Talking

Bradley Stern | February 6, 2015 5:30 pm

Happy Friday, Idolator readers! You ready for the big show on Sunday?

This week certainly offered enough excitement as it is, with Katy Perry kicking off the week with her Super Bowl spectacular, which turned out to be the highest viewed show in television history. Get it, Katy! (Or should we say Left Shark and Missy Elliott?) And we’ll see you at the Grammys!

Madonna kept the pop lovers satiated for the rest of the week — intentionally and otherwise — thanks to the second (oof!) leak of Rebel Heart (she’s mad), as well as the official premiere of her new video for “Living For Love.” And don’t forget that Grammys performance of her own, too!

We’ve got our sights set on Sunday, and we’ve been closely monitoring the show, including making our best guesses for the winners of categories like Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year. Do you agree with us? Plus, have you voted on your favorite Super Bowl performance of the last 4 years between Katy, Madonna, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars? It’s heating up!

As usual, you guys had plenty to say this week. Check out some of the best and worst comments after the jump.

:: Guest wasn’t super impressed with Katy Perry’s halftime show on Katy Perry, Missy Elliott And Lenny Kravitz At The Super Bowl: Watch The Halftime Show: “It was ok, but the song choices were so wrong; everything on Teenage Dream could’ve been way more enjoyable than all that Prism‘s shit.  Missy saved the show, without her addition it would’ve been even more basic and boring.”

:: Nor was Adam, who chimed in afterward: “Agreed. Although performing songs from Teenage Dream at this point was a little boring too; but it was the perfect moment to move on from it and from PRISM, performing them in big to add a little increase in those album’s sales. Plus that rumored performance of ‘By The Grace Of God’ at the Grammys will hopefully put a full stop to the PRISM era. At least she didn’t screw things up with her vocals this time… So kudos to you, Katy (I guess.. *shrug*).”

:: Hannah wasn’t scandalized by Kim K’s nudes for Love Magazine, but worried about longevity on Kim Kardashian To Break The Internet (Again) With Full Frontal Nude ‘LOVE’ Magazine Shoot: “Hmmm…well I guess it’s nice seeing a woman so comfortable with her body. But it’s eventually gonna get old and predictable, so she should find a new gimmick quick.”

:: And CA_Dreamin was busy dreamin’ of new Katy on Katy Perry Plans To Take Time Off To Write Songs And “Reinvent” Herself After The ‘Prismatic World Tour’: “That country/folksy album she’s been talking about would be great…. But I’d also take another ‘One of the Boys‘!”

:: Elle was bowled over by M’s video on Madonna’s “Living For Love” Video Debuts On Snapchat (Update: And Now On YouTube!): “The video is flawless. The track is great. She looks amazing.”

:: Pavel was also impressed: “WOW, I love it. The video, song and album are just great… best work in a long time. This is art.”

:: While jonoson lamented the Snapchat premiere — because he wanted a way to shade her faster: “Why Snapchat ? Pop music has become to comercial. Why couldn’t she just post it on Utube?( it is not a typo, I meant Utube). Now we have to wait longer to tear her apart.”

:: Colin A. weighed in with a thorough review of M’s album on Madonna’s Final Version Of ‘Rebel Heart’ Album Leaks In Full, A Month Ahead Of Release: “This album is musically complex and varied. Not obvious at all (Quite surprisingly, Beautiful Scars, Graffiti Heart and Autotune Baby are utter masterpieces). M is kicking arses. Pop execution at stellar levels. This record is fun, unpredictable and cool, particularly during its fast segments. Also, it’s as sexy as hell. No one else could have produced this but an awkward genius. I’m in tears.”

:: JaJay119 felt no fear for Madge’s leaky situation on Madonna Found Out Her Album Leaked (Again), Is Shaking Her F–king Head About It: “I know M is more worried about the invasion of he privacy and creativity here but I think she can sit pretty knowing everyone who would have bought it will probably still buy it anyway.”

:: JC came to Rita’s defense on Diane Warren Is Pissed Rita Ora Hasn’t Promoted Their Oscar-Nominated Song: “What else is Rita supposed to do? The song isn’t even that great… it’s just like any other generic love/empowerment anthem… This wouldn’t even be on the radio. Diane needs to chill.”

:: And finally, Tom needed a break after watching the anti-smoking PSA, “Left Swipe Dat,” on Becky G Teams Up With Fifth Harmony For Tinder-Referencing, Anti-Smoking Anthem “Left Swipe Dat”: “This was so unbearable I had to light a cigarette to calm my nerves.”
