The rapper teamed up with Sia & Vic Mensa for the brilliant performance.

Alesso follows up “Heroes (We Could Be)” with “Cool,” featuring Los Angeles producer-singer Roy English. To glistening keys, English sounds elated as he sings of taking the leap into a relationship (“You said it’s all yours if you take it there / I said I can’t do it alone, I swear”) — he’s trying, but failing to keep cool.

By the end of 2014, Alesso’s “Heroes,” his single with fellow Stockholm rising star Tove Lo, broke into the Top 40 and nearly topped Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Based on how it sounds, the DJ may have another hit with “Cool.”

Last summer, Alesso became the second DJ to sign to Def Jam. While he’s made himself known as a promising electronica newcomer with “Heroes,” Alesso says he hears “a lot of ’80s” and rock music in his debut album (out this spring). “I was a big Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, and Keane and Coldplay, so I think I just get inspired by those sounds, really,” he told Billboard.
