7. Jay Z featuring Chrisette Michele — “Lost Ones” (2006)

This next song shows a smoother side to the Compton-bred producer! “Lost Ones” was the second single from Jay Z‘s “comeback” ninth studio LP, Kingdom Come. While many believe (including Hov himself) credit the project as one of the rapper’s worst despite its commercial success, Dr. Dre was able to save it somehow with this tune. Featuring R&B singer Chrisette Michele, it includes a sparkling piano riff, uplifting vocals and soulful handclaps that makes it a highlight from Jay Z’s discography.

8. Alicia Keys — “New Day” (2013)

Wrapping up this list is “New Day,” the 2013 single from Alicia Keys‘ fifth studio album Girl On Fire from the previous year. Dr. Dre teamed up with the singer’s husband (Swizz Beatz) for the tune’s production, which is noticeably more upbeat when compared to her more piano-based singles. You can hear Dre in the hard-hitting percussion while Beatz can be found in the rattling, reggae-inspired synths. “New Day” is a great example that Dr. Dre can do masterful work when paired with another awesome producer!
