Baz Luhrmann Teams Up With RCA To Launch His Own Record Label
Baz Luhrmann is expanding his career into the music industry! Many will agree with the Australian film director’s move, as his movies over the past two decades have provided some of the best soundtracks.
He is now teaming up with Sony Music’s RCA record label to create own of his own — Bazmark. The main purpose of the deal is to release music from Lurhmann’s various projects in film and television. He also plans to sign artists to the new label.
“My current work is all music-driven, and all of it requires classics or new music artists. I’m going to try to build a home that has a great foundation, and I hope it has longevity. I would feel useful if just one or two artists found their creative road through the home we’re about to build,” the director said about the deal.
Some of Baz Luhrmann’s most notable film soundtracks include 1996’s Romeo + Juliet, 2001’s Moulin Rouge! (“Lady Marmalade,” anyone?) and 2013’s The Great Gatsby — which featured Lana Del Rey‘s “Young & Beautiful.”
