Brandon Flowers has released four albums with his band The KillersHot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008) and Battle Born (2012) — as well as a debut solo album, 2010’s Flamingo. Now the Las Vegas pop-rocker has announced his follow-up to the latter, The Desired Effect, which has a release date of May 18.

Last summer Flowers made it be known that he had been recording a new solo project with producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Sky Ferreira, Kylie Minogue).

“He’s taking me out of my comfort zone,” Flowers told NME at the time about working with Rechtshaid. “Normally I make demos and they’re pretty similar to how the song ends up. but he’ll take a song and be like, ‘I hear this’. It’s incredible – his palette and his range, what he’s able to say. At first we were butting our heads together, but now we’re hitting it off.”

A handwritten note has now been posted to Flowers’ official site, which reads as follows:

May 18, 2015, we will finally achieve The Desired Effect. Ariel and I have been collaborating in the studio, working twogether [sic] in the spirit of conversation, contention, and at long last, sweet contrition. No one has yet seen or heard the change. But soon, we all will.

Below is the teaser video for The Desired Effect.
