Nicki Minaj Jumps On The Remix Of Maroon 5’s “Sugar”
File this under things the world doesn’t particularly need or want. Maroon 5 announced via Twitter that Nicki Minaj is jumping on the remix of their current hit “Sugar.” Produced by Ammo and Cirkut, the V highlight is already near-perfect radio fodder and well on its way to topping the Billboard Hot 100. A tacked-on rap verse just feels like overkill at this point.
Unnecessary remixes aside, Maroon 5 can do no wrong at the moment. “Sugar” is the band’s eighth consecutive top 10 single — a hot streak that dates back to 2011’s career-reviving collaboration with Christina Aguilera “Moves Like Jagger.” It’s a huge turn around, considering the veteran rockers’ mixed chart fortunes between 2007 and 2010.
