Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Piece By Piece’ Tops The Album Chart

This week’s Top 10 on the Billboard 200 is basically uneventful, save for the arrival at the top of Kelly Clarkson’s seventh studio album, Piece By Piece. This is now the original American Idol winner’s third chart-topping LP, and her seventh Top 10 overall.

Piece By Piece sold 83,000 copies in its opening week, and racked up 97,000 units altogether once streams were factored in. The album’s lead single, “Heartbeat Song,” has peaked at #34 on the Hot 100, thus marking Kelly’s first lead single to miss the Top 10 (so far).

The only other new entry in the Top 10 is country-folk songbird Brandi Carlile’s fifth album The Firewatcher’s Daughter.

Next week, look for the chart to get a shakeup by the arrival of new albums from Luke Bryan, Madonna and the Empire cast.
