Martin Garrix Teases Soaring Usher Collab “Don’t Look Down”
Martin Garrix was arguably the break-out DJ/EDM producer of 2014 thanks to global smash “Animals.” The electro-house anthem topped the charts across Europe and climbed all the way to number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, which is almost unprecedented for an instrumental. Since then the 18-year-old has released a string of club monsters, but he’s aiming for another crossover hit by teaming up with R&B legend Usher on “Don’t Look Down.”
Their collaboration arrives on March 17 and sounds like a soaring shot of radio-friendly dance music — at least from the brief snippet Martin shared in a behind-the-scenes Instagram video. It’s definitely a more commercial vibe for the superstar DJ and should give the likes of Calvin Harris, Zedd and David Guetta a run for their money on the charts. The Dutchman’s debut LP is expected later this year.
