Jasmine Villegas Interview
We spoke to Jasmine Villegas about "That's Me Right There," her new EP and Nick Jonas.

After finding fame as a video girl (she played Justin Bieber‘s love interest in the superstar’s all-conquering “Baby” video), Jasmine Villegas — or Jasmine V, for short — launched her own music career with a string of super-catchy pop anthems like “All These Boys” and “Werk.” The 21-year-old signed to Interscope Records last year and released her long-overdue debut EP in November, which was preceded by Kendrick Lamar-assisted single “That’s Me Right There.”

While that (very underrated) anthem showcases the diva’s move to a more credible urban-pop sound, she wholeheartedly embraces hip-hop on “One Night” — a track featuring Compton rapper Problem and “Don’t Tell ‘Em” hitmaker Jeremih. “I know you got a bankroll, every day’s a pay day and everything is paid for,” Jasmine sings over aggressive beats. “I just really want to see if you could chill and lay low.” It’s a great sound for the former-teen queen, who continues to surprise with each new release.
