Chic's New Album
All you disco and funk lovers out there, get ready! Nile Rodgers is back.

“No, we don’t wanna live in the past, but it’s a nice place to visit!”

So go the vocals on “I’ll Be There,” the first single from Nile Rodgers’ band CHIC in 23 years. Having experienced an astonishing resurgence in popularity after collaborating with everyone from Daft Punk to Adam Lambert to Lady Gaga in recent years, Rodgers set about recording the upcoming Chic album It’s About Time, which, the BBC notes, is currently being pieced together from a box of lost CHIC tapes featuring the original members of the band. (Nile Rodgers is the only surviving member of the hit-making disco band’s original lineup, which included Bernard Edwards.)

“I’ll Be There,” the first single from the upcoming LP, was released today, and you can stream it via Spotify. It’s a glorious, autobiographical party jam that echoes the sound of CHIC’s “Everybody Dance” and “Good Times” days — and it reminds just why Nile Rodgers is a legend.

UPDATE: The video for “I’ll Be There” premiered this morning, and it was directed by Inez & Vinoodh and features a whole lot of supermodel Karlie Kloss (no stranger to the world adjacent to Nile Rodgers) bumping and grinding in lingerie like a naughty minx.
