Taylor Swift’s Team Just Bought TaylorSwift.Porn
The team behind Taylor Swift just purchased two domain names: TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult. The exact reason why isn’t clear, CNN reports, although online marketing experts have a fairly good guess.
Starting June 1, anyone can buy a .porn, .adult and .sucks website, thanks to the Internet Company for Assigned Names and Numbers. (This nonprofit is why every URL so far, like .com, .net and. org, exist.) So, before they’re available to the public, brands like Microsoft are buying such domains (Office.porn, Office.adult) to ensure that they aren’t associated with anything negative or controversial.
Over the past year, Swift’s team has made huge efforts to preserve her brand. Last month, it trademarked phrases like “this sick beat,” as heard in 1989‘s lead single “Shake It Off,” as if to prevent vendors from creating unofficial merch inspired by her music.
