Nick Jonas Performs "Chains" Live
Nick stopped by 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to sing "Chains." Watch.

Before the nude shoots and chart success of “Jealous,” the world was introduced to Nick Jonas 2.0 by “Chains” — a moody, atmospheric R&B anthem that proved he was all grown up. The (original) video helped get that message across. It was sleek, sexy and suited the song perfectly. The same can’t be said for the new and unimproved clip, which was filmed at Miami’s Wynwood Walls graffiti installation.

The curious visual finds Nick throwing a street party/outdoor rave. That concept would be great for an uptempo club-banger, but just doesn’t work for a mid-tempo ballad. In fact, the sight of scantily-clad girls dancing wildly to “Chains” is more comical than anything. Did they at least play a remix for these kids or were they forced to dance in slow motion? This is a rare misstep for the new king of cool. Watch up top.
