Miley Cyrus Hit The Studio With Ariel Pink And The Flaming Lips
Miley Cyrus’ indie phase is almost upon us! The self-proclaimed Dirty Hippie has already collaborated with The Flaming Lips on several tracks and band members have spoken extensively about working with her, but we now have photographic evidence that the project is coming together. The “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker and Wayne Coyne posted pics on Instagram from a studio session with singer/songwriter Ariel Pink last night (April 2).
“Yep.. Ariel Pink singin .. Recording with @mileycyrus is always turnt as fuck .. Haha,” Wayne captioned one image. “Yessss… @stevendrozd @arielxpink doing some cool shit,” he wrote about another. Flaming Lips composer/guitarist Steven Drozd has already spoken about working with Miley, saying: “We’re going to try to make a record with her if we can work this out because we’ve gotten together with her a few times in a recording studio and she’s fucking badass.”
The thing I love most about Miley is her fucks-free approach to creating music. After stomping on Hannah Montana’s grave with the ratchet urban-pop of Bangerz, another radical change of direction seems only fitting. Even a stand-alone EP would be a nice present while we wait for her next chart-conquering opus.
