The-Dream revealed that Bey recorded and scrapped an entire Fela-inspired LP.

There’s nothing wrong with your ears. That sound you hear in the distance is just The Hive crying and shaking. You see, Jay Z’s new streaming service TIDAL got its first major exclusive today (April 4) when Beyonce dropped a new track called “Die With You.” The game-changing diva performs the tender ballad in front of a piano in a shaky, DIY video. In a cute twist, the director/smartphone-holder turns out to be Hov.

“I don’t need air in my lungs if I can’t sing your song,” sings a snapback-clad Queen Bey. “No, I don’t need hands if I don’t get to keep you warm.” That takes us to the sentimental chorus: “I open my eyes so I can see with you and I live so I can die with you.” Lyrically, “Die With You” is the stripped-back (and slightly chilled out) cousin of 4 ballad “1+1,” so I wouldn’t be too surprised if it originates from that era. If you’re not a TIDAL subscriber, you can watch Beyonce’s beautiful performance below.
