After their laptop was stolen while on the road, the duo lost all material for their new LP.

Last week, MS MR Instagrammed a very promising teaser of their upcoming single, “Painted.” And…well, what did you think would happen? It’s just as fantastic as hoped.

The jittery song is a thrilling new taste from the duo’s anticipated follow-up to their 2013 debut LP Secondhand Rapture, which is expected to be released in July. The heavily layered, uniquely shape-shifting piano-tinged track alternates rapidly between tempos, frequently punctuated by one line on repeat from Lizzy Plapinger: “What did you think would happen?

The troupe, which suffered a devastating laptop theft that cost them all of their recorded material last year, is soldiering ahead with their new album, and recently touched down in SXSW to debut new material.
