‘The Voice’: Wiz Khalifa Performs ‘Furious 7’ Hit “See You Again,” The Top 12 Revealed

It had been a season of decidedly tame outfits for Christina Aguilera on The Voice. Her Blind Audition, Battle, Knockout and even Monday and Tuesday’s Live Round ensembles were all conservative, relatively speaking, with not so much as a fascinator or fan to raise some fashion red flags.

All of this changed Wednesday (April 8) night, though, as Xtina made a raid of Cee Lo’s closet, grabbed the nearest kimono, gave her hair some angular spike and reminded us that the first queen of The Voice red thrones still reigns. Let this be only the beginning of Christina’s sartorial renaissance.

Wednesday night was the last night that Queen Christina, along with fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine, had any say in which contestants moved forward in the competition. Viewers voted through two members from each of their teams, and the coaches each had one save to round out the Top 12.

There were plenty of performances and suspense to be had as Carson Daly rolled out the results. Here are the highlights and results of Wednesday night’s Live Eliminations:

First up, former Voice finalist Chris Jamison joins Wiz Khalifa to perform “See You Again” from Furious 7. You would think with all of the cross promotion resources NBC Universal has to throw, they would at the very least have Vin Diesel come from a trap door in the floor or The Rock lower from a ceiling harness, but maybe they’re saving that for Fast & Furious 10. Stay tuned!

The members of Team Blake – Sarah Potenza, Corey Kent White, Meghan Linsey, Brooke Adee and Hannah Kirby – sing The Staple Singers’ “I’ll Take You There.” Sarah and Corey stand out amongst their teammates, and Meghan seems to be doing everything in her power to ensure a coach save should it come to that.

Team Christina’s Kimberly Nichole, Rob Taylor, India Carney, Lexi Dávila and Sonic live out every ’90s girl’s dream, and sing Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” on national television. India and Kimberly take turns slaying, because they are the team Kweens. Rob has a few throne-worthy moments as well, but it’s all about the dualing divas on Team Christina.

Team Pharrell sings Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World’s Say Something.” Christina beams with pride as Caitlin Caporale, Koryn Hawthorne, Lowell Oakley, Mia Z and Sawyer Fredericks tackle her song. She does not, unfortunately, jump on the stage and join them.

Team Adam sings Rihanna’s “Diamonds” before two of them are done shining on The Voice…forever. Tonya Boyd-Cannon, Joshua Davis, Brian Johnson, Nathan Hermida and Deanna Johnson sing it like it’s their last performance, which, for a pair of them, it totally is.

For some, it was just another elimination night, but for others, the night was their last (on The Voice, people, let’s not be too dramatic). Here’s who will be making it to the Top 12 next week:

TEAM BLAKE

Advancing: The country vote was in full force, because Corey Kent White and Meghan Linsey advance.

Coach Save: Perhaps moved by the transcendence of her dance moves, Blake saves Hannah Kirby, meaning…

Going Home: Sarah Potenza and Brooke Adee exit Team Blake. Why Blake would eliminate his strongest team member, Sarah, is beyond comprehension, but perhaps he’s just totally over winning. Sarah, you’re as free as a bird, girl: never change.

TEAM CHRISTINA

Advancing: In no surprise, voters advance India Carney and Kimberly Nichole.

Coach Save: His talent can’t be denied: Christina advances Rob Taylor.

Going Home: Sorry, Sonic and Lexi Dávila: you just got X(tina)ed.

TEAM PHARRELL

Advancing: In another easy call, voters advance Sawyer Fredericks and Mia Z.

Coach Save: Her hymnal performance inspired him: Koryn Hawthorne moves on to the Top 12.

Going Home: He made it past last week’s awkward performance, but Lowell Oakley does not make it to the Top 12. Joining him on the way out is Caitlin Caporale, an early favorite departing too soon.

TEAM ADAM

Advancing: Joshua Davis and Deanna Johnson are the crowd favorites from Team Adam.

Coach Save: Despite calling Tonya Boyd-Cannon his team’s rock, Adam saves new member Brian Johnson, instead.

Going Home: Nathan Hermida was an easy call, but we’ll never forget Tonya Boyd-Cannon. Until the returning performances in the finale, when it will be like, wait – who was that, again?

As Carson Daly says, “There you have it, ladies and gentlemen, your Top 12!” Any surprises? Complaints? Calls for a recount? Vent it out in the comments below.
