Ibrawlator: Wiz Khalifa Vs. Miley Cyrus Vs. Carrie Underwood — Whose “See You Again” Is Best?

Ah, Wiz Khalifa, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus — not since Wilson Phillips arrived on the early ’90s scene has there been a trio so likely to be caught ridin’ dirty.

While their musical tastes may differ, Wiz, Carrie and Miley each had a big hit over the past decade with a song called “See You Again.” But which is the best? Let’s take a closer look.

“SEE YOU AGAIN” by WIZ KHALIFA featuring CHARLIE PUTH (2015)

Who knew Wiz Khalifa or Charlie Puth had it in them? Drawing on their own memories of loss while eulogizing the late actor Paul Walker and his beloved Fast And The Furious franchise character, they captured power-ballad lightning in a bottle.

There’s a reason why “See You Again” was the only force on earth capable of unseating “Uptown Funk” from its 14-week run atop the Billboard Hot 100: No one can listen to this song and not cry. Entire theaters full of people have sobbed through Furious 7 screenings. Your grandmother, who hasn’t really been into Wiz Khalifa since “Black And Yellow,” gets all misty-eyed. Vin Diesel, like Jesus, wept.

A Final Thought From the YouTube Comments: “Fuuuucckk this is powerful stuff man :/”

“SEE YOU AGAIN” by CARRIE UNDERWOOD (2013)

Like the Wiz/Charlie collaboration, Carrie Underwood co-wrote this song for a film project. Unlike the Wiz/Charlie situation, the film (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader) sucked, the producers rejected “See You Again” from the soundtrack and the movie flopped. (Sorry, Aslan.)

Thankfully, Jesus took the wheel and this tune onto Carrie’s chart-topping, Grammy-winning album Blown Away. Released as the set’s final single, “See You Again” went Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100  and Top 10 on the Hot Country Songs chart. It is also scientifically impossible to watch the emotional music video (a Video of the Year winner at the 2014 CMT Music Awards) and not cry.

A Final Thought From the YouTube Comments: “Today I really miss my grandma and Corey Monteith.”

“SEE YOU AGAIN” by MILEY  CYRUS (2007)

A dark, driving jam from Hanna Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus — yes, I just wrote that — “See You Again” is one of Miley’s best pre-Bangerz offerings and the song that helped her finally de-wig. (Shh!) Co-penned by Cyrus, “See You Again” was Miley’s debut single under her name, and it soared to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went double-Platinum in the United States alone.

While one could argue that on this iconic cut, “she’s just bein’ Miley,” we wanted to point out one big difference between this “See You Again” and the two aforementioned songs: listening to this one won’t make you ugly-cry until your soul sad-vomits! (The Kidz Bop cover, on the other hand…)

A Final Thought From the YouTube Comments: “Lol call me crazy but who’s Lesley?”
